About This Major

A fellowship training program that prepares physicians to prevent and relieve the suffering experienced by patients with life-limiting illnesses and to maximize the quality of life while addressing the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of both patient and family throughout the course of the disease, including through the dying process and subsequent family grieving. Requires prior completion of a residency program in anesthesiology, emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, child neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, psychiatry, radiation oncology, or general surgery. This CIP code is not valid for IPEDS reporting.
